Akkineni started as a child artist in the year 1967 through the Telugu film Sudigundalu, where his father acted in the lead role. After some years, he was debuted as a lead actor in V. Madhusudhana Rao’s Vikram in 1986. This film was produced by his brother and became a success, giving him a good start as an actor. In 1987, he was starred in the classical film, Sankeertana; a film that marked the directorial debut of Geetha Krishna. After a year, he was featured in the blockbuster Telugu action film, Aakhari Poratam, where he was paired with Suhasini and Sridevi. Later, Akkineni was starred in another K. Raghavendra Rao’s Telugu film entitled Janaki Ramudu, together with Vijayashanti in the lead role.
He was starred in Mani Ratnam’s romance film, Geethanjali in the year 1989, opposite Girija Shettar. This film met critical and commercial success and even earned the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Soon after, the talented actor met another success in the Telugu action film, Siva in 1989. This film marked the directorial debut of Ram Gopal Varma. Akkineni has also done the Hindi remake of the film entitled Shiva. This also marks his debut in Bollywood. Both films saw a huge success at the box-office. In 1991, he acted in the drama film Jaitra Yatra, from where he earned critical reception. This was followed by average success films like Prema Yuddham and Iddharu Iddhare. But Akkineni has proven his mettle and carved his niche in the industry as he appeared in more box-office hits like Neti Siddhartha, Killer, Chaitanya and Nirnayam, helmed by prominent directors like Priyadarshan, Fazil, and Prathap Pothen. In the following year, he acted in Nennanu and the box-office hit film, Mass, which he also produced under his own banner, Annapurna Studios. In 2005, he acted and produced the Telugu heist film, Super, along with Ayesha Takia, Sonu Sood, and Anushka Shetty. He was starred in the 2006 blockbuster biographical film, Sri Ramadasu. He has directed many stars of Tollywood such as Mahesh Babu, Trisha, Pawan Kalyan, Ileana D'Cruz, Allu Arjun, Upendra, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who were just ultimate superstars. Although he was a dialogue writer he had penned lyrics ( film Oka Raju Oka Rani) and rendered his voice too for his own film “Nuvve Nuvve”.

74. Suriya Sivakumar
Suriya Sivakumar is undoubtedly the biggest star in contemporary Tamil film yet most critics would agree that he is truly a ‘real and spontaneous’ actor who can match any character that he plays in screen. His rise in Kollywood cinema came at a time when commercial Tamil films tended to shy away from the dark themes and ambivalent morality associated with film and style. The popularity of Ghajini proved that the level of negativity that the audiences could bear. When A.R Murugadoss selected Suriya to don the role in Ghajini, he knew how it would work with mainstream audiences and was almost right. Truly, this actor had overcome his father’s shadow and moved to be one of the most talented actor, whose films got inspired by even Aamir Khan and even Ajay Devgan. Aamir Khan had showered him praise for his performance in Ghajini and wanted to re-make the same film in Hindi. The question remains still, when Aamir had over-acted in the Hindi version, Suriya had just down played the character suitably. Although Suriya was never seen in any Hindi film (except Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra), Suriya’s name became quite popular even in Hindi belt, just because Aamir Khan was doing the Hindi version of Ghajini. Similarly, when Singham was remade for Hindi belt audiences, even Ajay Devgan got inspired to play the police role by just watching how Suriya did the same role. May be after seeing this film, Murugadoss selected him to play the role of a patient who suffered from short-term memory loss and Suriya Sivakumar played his first role (Ghajini) of angry young man who had a rife with corruption and who was blocked off any avenues for justice. Indian cinema had seen earlier only Amitabh Bachchan and perhaps Sunil Dutt (Mother India) playing such anti-hero character so suitably. In 2006, he also had starred with his wife Jyothika( not married then) in N Krishna’ s film ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal', where again Suriya had done a fantastic job, He also played dual roles in ‘’Vaaranam Aayiram’’, ‘’Vel’’ ‘’Perazhagan", ", "Maatran" and "7 am Arivu’’, and "Anjaan". He is a few actors in Kollywood whose married life with actress Jyothika, remained untouched with rumour.
