Koratala Siva

Koratala Siva is a screenwriter and film director from India. He works mainly in Tollywood. Koratala Siva has penned many scripts for films like Munna, Brindavanam, Oosaravelli, Okkadunadu and Bhadra. Apart from writing skills, Siva is also popular for his directorial skills. In 2013, he directed the action drama movie Mirchi in Telugu, and later in 2015, he directed the movie, Srimanthudu. Both fared well at the box office. For his movie Mirchi, the acclaimed singer, Kailash Kher won the Telugu Filmfare Award for the best playback Singer. Before his directorial debut in Mirchi, Koratala Siva pursued his graduation in engineering and often worked as an assistant to one of his relative, Posani Krishna Murali, who also happens to be a director. 

Siva’s first experience in the Telugu film industry was as a writer for the film ‘Girl Friend’, which was directed by Nageswara Reddy. A popular Tamil film, ‘Boys’ made headlines for its plot resembled Koratala Siva’s real life story.  Boys was directed by Shankar. Later Siva penned for the Telugu movie that gave a break to Ravi Teja. The movie was Bhadra, and for this movie, Siva wrote both screenplay and story. Afterwards, he was given credit for penning dialogues of movies like Munna, Oosaravelli, Okkadunnadu and Brindavanam. In Tollywood, it became a firm belief that directors and writers like Siva can write scripts, which can help resurrect and boost the protagonists’ or hero’s track record.

Siva’s second movie, Srimathundu as a director for Mahesh Babu gave the entire Telugu industry a ransom earning of more than Rs.180 Crores. Even though Siva had a short stint as a writer, his skills as a writer are highly praised.  Siva has a great role to play in the tremendous achievement of Prabhas. Prabhas worked with Siva in his directorial venture Mirchi, and that film gave the former a force to strongly reckon with.     Later, there was a rumour about Siva’s movie with Ram Charan, but somehow afterwards it was cancelled due to some reasons, unknown.
