Puneeth was born on 17th March 1975 in Madras, Tamilnadu. He entered the industry when he was six months old. Although he hails from Madras, he was brought up in Bengalaru. He left his studies in order to work in the cinema but later achieved a diploma in computer science privately. He has a family background where all his brothers, as well as his father, are involved in the same industry. As a child artist, Puneeth worked in movies like ‘Geetha and Bhagyavantha’. He was applauded for his performance as a child and received national film award for best child artist.
In 2002, Puneeth was seen playing the lead role for the first time in ‘Appu’. He received a national award for his movie ‘Butada hoovu’. Puneeth is trained in dancing, fighting and martial arts. He was involved in the mining business for a short span of time. Moreover, he was also engaged in the production of movies and TV serials. Puneeth loved his father, Dr Rajkumar a lot and therefore built a hotel in Bengalaru, as per his father’s wish. He also carried out philanthropic work in Shakti Dharma ashram, Mysore. Puneeth married Ashwini Revanth in December 1999 and has two daughters. He is an Italian designer wear freak and loves watching Spanish and Hollywood films. He admires Michael Jackson as a singer.

Puneeth Rajkumar was not only an actor but a producer, singer, and TV Presenter. He hosted Kannadada Kotyadhipati for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th seasons. Puneeth was the brand ambassador of Nandini Milk Products of the Karnataka Milk Federation. He was also the ambassador of Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Karnataka team in the Indian Premier League. Besides the National Award as a child actor, he had received lots and lots of awards from the Karnataka State Government for his Best performances in Milana and Jackie, from SIIMA for Hudugaru, Yaare Koogadali, Rana Vikrama, and “Raajakumara” and from Filmfare South, he received the Best Actor award for the films, Arasu, Hudugaru, Rana Vikrama, and Raajakumara.

In 2019, Puneeth was seen in “Natasaarvabhouma” with Anupama Parameshwaran. After a couple of cameo appearances in 2020, he appeared as the lead in the 2021 movie, “Yuvarathnaa” with Sayesha Saigal. He had been working in a couple of films, James with Priya Anand and “Dvitva” with Trisha Krishnan. Before these films' release, Puneeth suffered a cardiac arrest on 29th October 2021 and died at a private hospital in Bangalore.
