Born on 17 December 1958 Jayasudha is predominantly a Telugu actress, though she has worked in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada films too. She was born in Chennai, but her mother tongue is Telugu. Her aunt, has acted in Telugu films and she is a director too.

Jayasudha entered into films during the age of 12; she acted in a Telugu film named Pandanti Kapuram. Later, she did a minute role in K Balachander’s Arangetram. She worked with K Balachander in several films. Her original name is Sujatha and she changed it to Jayasudha. The Telugu film industry welcomed her and she worked in many good films there. The greatest credit to her acting prowess is that, she was compared with yesteryear legend Savithri. Her roles were powerful and they had variety in them. As a fitting tribute to her natural acting Jayasudha is named “Sahaja Nati”

When she grew up Jayasudha entered the Telugu film industry with the film Lakshmana Rekha. This showcased that there is an actress named Jaya Sudha in the Telugu film industry. But it is only her role in “” which helped her in climbing the ladder of success.

Jayasudha’s popularity soared with the film “Adavi Ramudu”, which was a huge success. Jayasudha has worked in more than 200 films and would you believe that in a year 24 films of her released. A notable point is that, she would deliver her dialogues in a good manner, though she is quite alien to Telugu. Jayasudha was seen in many films of renowned filmmaker . She became a great actress of Telugu cinema by 1982 that Dasari Narayana Rao titled a film “Jayasudha”.

Jayasudha has won many Filmfare awards. She is a good friend of another actress Jayapradha with whom she worked in Meghasandesam and Adavi Ramudu. Jayasudha tried her luck in politics, but she was not successful.
