Born in Karnataka, Niveditha, popularly known as Smitha, is an Indian film artist who chiefly appears in Kannada movies. She is the daughter of Lakshmi and Jagadish, who worked in Commercial Taxes as a Deputy Commissioner. She completed her school education in Chikmagalur. She did her studies at the Marimallappa High School and finished her pre-university course at the Marimallappa College in Mysore. Smitha as a pupil was a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet and referred herself as a Tomboy. After graduating from the CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) College in Bangalore as an engineering tutee, she went ahead to work at the Infosys for a year. She initially joinedan acting school by on-screen character Anupam Kher, where she did a crash course. Smitha got a part in the movie ‘Akasha Gange’ directed by Dinesh Baboo, but the film did not release. Later, she signed films Avva, Kallarali Hoovagi and Mathad Mathadu Mallige. The movie Avva by Kavita Lankesh remains her most eminent among the initial releases. The motion picture especially stood out as truly newsworthy for a kissing scene between her and actor Duniya Vijay. Her execution earned her the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ honor from the Karnataka State Film Awards for the movie.
