Rakshit Shetty is a Kannada film actor and director. Rakshit was born on 6th June 1983 in Udupi, Karnataka. He currently lives in Bangalore, Karnataka. He graduated from Electronics and Communication Engineering from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. Then he worked as a software professional for a while before turning to acting.

Rakshit played a small role in the 2010 year film ‘Nam Areal Ondina’, which was his first appearance on the screen as an actor. ‘Simple Agi Ondh Love Story’ released in 2013 gave him the popularity. Rakshit tried his hand on direction with the film ‘ Ulidavaru Kandanthe’ released in 2014. For his debut directorial film Rakshit won the Filmfare Awards South for Best Director and was also nominated for Filmfare Awards South for Best Actor for the same film.

Ramkumar belongs to the Kannada film industry. He started off his acting career with Avesta; an action movie in 1990 along with Shankar Nag, Geetha, and Bhavya. His debut film proved to be a great success. Till 2013, he has almost acted in over 40 Kannada movies. In the year 2006, he got himself introduced in the field of Production with the film Pandavaru. And in the same movie, he did act too. Ramkumar’s father is Shrinagar Nagaraj, a well-known personality who had produced the movie Pushpaka Vimana (1988). He was a great movie freak since childhood. He got married in the year 2006 to Poornima, who is the younger daughter of the most renowned actor of Kannada cinema – Rajkumar. After his debut movie, the war film Muthina Haara which was directed by Rajendra Singh Babu was followed. In this, he played the part of Vishnuvardhan, and he gets defeated in the war. This flick turned out to be a great hit in the Kannada cinema. Initially, he used to act supportive roles. In 1993, he came opposite a newcomer Shweta in the film Gejje Naada. He received many appreciations for his performance. Just like success doesn’t stay with a person forever, Ramkumar also had to face failures at the box-office in 1994, in Poorna Sathya; a story of B. C. Patil. But the years of 1995 and 1996 proved to be a milestone in his career releasing many successful films like Kavya, Thayi Illada Thavaru, Thavarina Throttle and Gaya. Snehaloka & Habba are also his good movies. But when in continuity, there wasn’t a good response from the critics and the public regarding this work and acting career, he opted to start off with the Production in 2006 with the movie Pandavaru; that could reach out to grab an average level of income for his startup work. That is why he never felt the need or requirement of switching off to some other language or style. He also portrayed a role in the movie Muthina Haara in 1990. A handful of the movies including Thayi Illada Thavaru, Gaaya, Kavya and Thavarina Thottilu gained success. In 1999 he worked in Snehaloka and Habba which were multi-starred and pretty successful, but the films that followed failed to impress audiences at the box office. Ram Kumar converted to a producer. In 2006 his film Pandavaru hit the theatre, the name of the film based on wife’s name. Pandavaru was a remake of the Hindi film Hulchul and had many proficient actors cast in it, yet proved to be only average at the box office. Over the years he also acted in a handful of Tamil ventures like Manasara Vazhthunggalen in 1991 and Government Mappillai in 1992. His other films in the 2000’s are Gaajina Mane in 2000, Ellara Mane Dosenu and Aunty Preethse in 2001. He made a brief appearance in the film Kushalave Kshemave in 2003. In 2004 came Saagari and Abhinandane released in 2005. He was also part of Navashakti Vaibhava in 2008, Jodi no. 1 in 2009, Sri Naga Shakthi in 2011 and Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in 2013.
