Vivekanandan is the birth name of the versatile comedian Vivek. He is introduced by the legendary director Balachander through the film Manadhil Urudhi Vendum. It is the film in which Ramesh Arvind was also introduced. They both acted as brothers of Suhasini in that film. He got famous through Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal, as his dialogue Innaikku Seththa Naalaikku Paal reached the viewers well. He acted with top actors and reached fame within a short span. He performed with Rajini in Uzhaippali, Veera and Sivaji. His role in Kadhal Mannan, an Ajith starter, was loved by many people. Vivek acted with Vijay in Kushi and Priyamanavale. He performed with Vadivelu in few films and the notable one is Middle Class Madhavan, a Prabhu movie. Both Vadivel and Vivek performed humorously in that film. After the invasion of many comedians like Santhanam and Suri, the chances get lessened for Vivek. He performed as Eka in the Dhanush movie Uthamaputhiran, which was outstanding. Singham of Surya had Vivek as a Police constable. His recent movies are Velai Illa Pattadhaari with Dhanush and Yennai Arindhaal with Ajith. He has also acted as a solo hero in the film named Nan Than Bala. The film did not go well as expected, but he has won positive criticism from the critics.
In 2016, he played with Karthik Sivakumar and Akkineni Nagarjuna in “Thozha,” directed by Vamsi Paidipally. In the same year, he joined Karthi and “Nayanthara” in “Kaashmora.” He played Karthi’s father in the film. 2016 also had Vivek in “Manithan” with Udhayanidhi Stalin and Hnasika Motwani. In 2017, Vivek played a motivating father to Hiphop Tamizha Adhi in Meesaya Murukku, the debut for Adhi as a hero and a director. In the 2017 movie Brindavanam, a film by Radha Mohan, he played himself in a full-length role along with “Arulnithi” and Tanya Ravichandran. In the same year, he joined Dhanush once again for the sequel to VIP, “Velaiilla Pattadhari 2.” In 2018, he did a film with “Devayani,” “Ezhumin.” He also penned lyrics for the song Ezhu Ezhu. In 2019, he was seen in a couple of biggie movies, “Viswasam” with Ajith and “Bigil” with Vijay. In the same year, he played the solo hero in Vellai Pookal, a film that received positive criticism from both the critics and the audiences. He was last seen in Dharala Prabhu with Harish Kalyan. Vivek hadn’t shared the screen space with Kamal Haasan. He signed a film with Kamal in “Indian” directed by “S Shankar.”
Vivek was admitted to the hospital on 16th April 2021 due to chest pain. His body didn’t respond to the medications and he breathed his last on 17th April 2021.
