Anurag Kashyap Calls Out Kollywood

Anurag Kashyap has issues with Kollywood as well.

In a recent interview, the acclaimed filmmaker went on a rant as usual, calling the multilingual films a scam that benefit none. However, the filmmaker also pointed out an unusual but glaring flaw in some of the recent Tamil movies, which very few have dared to discuss in the open.

Anurag Kashyap has called out some of the Tamil film composers for anglicizing the film music for the Tamilian movies, denying it the authentic roots that once made Kollywood the numero uno in terms of film soundtrack.

Kashyap might have referred to Anirudh Ravichander, who is well known for giving his musicals the Western touch, prominently witnessed in movies like LEO, and even his debut Bollywood venture JAWAN.

Anurag Kashyap had made his Tamil debut as an actor with the mystery thriller Imaikaa Nodigal in 2018, which co-starred Atharvaa, Nayanthara and Raashii Khanna in the lead roles. However, it was with the crime drama Maharaja, that Anurag Kashyap made the Tamil fans take notice, where he played the role of the main antagonist. This was also Anurag’s first major success in any project since Hunterr, which he had produced as a part of Phantom Films in 2015.
