Thug Life And Coolie To Adopt This Model For Better Success?

It’s time for Kollywood to spread its wings!

According to the recent reports, Tamil cinema may finally get the one achievement they’re yearning  for so long : a 1000 crore grosser!

But how is this possible? According to some media reports, talks are going on between the makers of movies like Coolie, Thug Life etc. and the multiplexes all over India, especially the northern regions. Both Mani Ratnam and Lokesh Kanagaraj want maximum revenue for their movie, for which they’re ready to drop their 4-week OTT window in favor of the 8-week OTT window.

What will this achieve? In movies like LEO, Jailer etc., the movies didn’t cross 1000 crores worldwide, despite the movie being huge successes back home. This was because the makers didn’t accept the 8-week OTT window suggested by the Northern distributors, limiting a wide release for both the movies. Even Vijay’s GOAT : The Greatest of All Time flopped because of the same approach.

Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life is expected to release around June 5, while Coolie will release around the Independence Day weekend, i.e. from August 14 onwards.
