Richard Curtis, born Richard Whalley Anthony Curtis, is a renowned screenwriter, film producer, television producer, and film director working in the Hollywood films and TV Industry. Richard Curtis celebrates his birthday on 8th November. His hometown is Wellington, New Zealand. He was born to Anthony J. and Glyness S. Curtis. He has a younger brother, Jamie. Richard is married to Emma Vallency Freud. She works as a journalist, editor, and writer. They have four children. Richard attended Papplewick School in Ascot, Berkshire, and Appleton Grammar School in Warrington, Chesire. Richard then attended Harrow School, Greater London, which he got into by winning a scholarship. Richard acted as an editor for a weekly newspaper at Harrow School.
He wrote funny articles, comments, and reviews, and in doing so, he learned the skills to become a sketch writer. Richard attended Christ Church, Oxford, to pursue higher studies. He worked hard and accomplished a degree in English Language and Literature. He got accepted into the scriptwriting team at the University of Oxford and even appeared in a theatre drama, ‘After Eights’ in 1976. Richard debuted through the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Show.
