Plot

“Palm Royale” is inspired by a novel written by Juliet McDaniel, named “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie”. This show is about Maxine Dellacorte Simmons, an extravagant character. Maxine is ambitious and dreams of achieving a spot in the town’s most exclusive society, the Palm Royale. It is a club for the filthy rich. Maxine does whatever it takes to reach this dream. She enters the club and tries to befriend the ladies, but the manager rejects her and someone escorts her out. She then sees Dinah crying after an argument with her husband, so she approaches her and talks to her. Dinah shares her troubles that she is pregnant but she feels that it is impractical to bring the baby into the world. Max comforts her and also asks her to be her sponsor but Dinah refuses as she believes they won’t get along as friends. When Max brings it up, Dinah says that her attire is dated which shows that she won’t be able to afford the membership. So Max steals her aunt’s jewelry and sells it for financial security. The rest of the episodes shows her struggle during this mission and she is even granted membership. However, new problems arise that she tries to solve in her unique way.

Star Performance

Kristen Wiig stood out in her performance as the protagonist of the show, Maxine Simmons.

Analysis

The character Maxine Simmons made the show enjoyable because of her feisty and fearless personality. Along with the danger of being in contact with dangerous people, the show offers numerous scenes of pure comedy that can make one laugh out loud uncontrollably. The costumes chosen for this show were stunning and relevant. The landscapes and cinematography were excellent, and even the sets were perfect. Overall, it is simply an entertaining show. This show might seem shallow to some desperate hope and meaning seeking vigilantes. However, we must remember that it is still fun to watch and not every show must have some deep moral story to give hope to those seeking it, there are plenty of other shows for that. This show has its unique entertainment that some of us can appreciate.

What’s There?

• This web series has a lovely concoction of thrill, comedy and drama.
• The costumes were appealing to look at, and so were the sets and the various landscapes in some scenes.
• This web series is incredibly entertaining and ironically has us rooting for characters that we might not particularly like.

What’s Not There?

• There is no negative aspect.

Verdict

Palm Royale is a delightful show that is suitable for all audiences who have an affinity for the rich and luxurious lifestyles or just want to watch something entertaining. It is not suitable for audiences who are opposed to or don’t enjoy watching such themes.
