Allison Janney

Allison Brooks Janney was brought to life on November 19, 1959, in one of the oldest cities in the USA, Boston. However, she was raised in Dayton, Ohio, by her mother Macy Brooks Putnam, a former actress and her dad Jervis Spencer Janney, Jr., a jazz musician and reality developer. This American film and television actress first appeared on the small screen in the 1991 comedy sitcom Morton & Hayes portraying protagonist Eddie Hayes' wife. She then did comic roles as Vi Kaminski on As the World Turns and later as Ginger on Guiding Light.In the first half of 1994, she did a small cameo on Law & Order, a procedural and legal television series by Dick Wolf.

She later gave phenomenal performances as a supporting actress in Drop Dead Gorgeous of 1999 and Nurse Betty of 2000. Her act of Ms. Perky in 10 Things I Hate About You and as Barbara Fitts in American Beauty, both released in the year 1999 were applauded by viewers and critics. In 1999, she was seen on soap opera The West Wing, as C.J. Cregg, press secretary for the president. This sitcom won her six Emmy Award Nominations.

She won four of them, two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the year 2000 and 2001, and the other two were for Outstanding Lead Actress in the years 2002 and 2004. For this 6ft tall actress, The West Wing was a major success as she was nominated for four Golden Globe awards. She also received a nomination in the year 2002 for Actor of the Year at American Film Institute. In 2006, Janney received another nomination in 2006, for an Independent Spirit Award for her work in Our Very Own.
