David Alan Mamet, also known as David Mamet, is a famous American film director, screenwriter, and author. He was born on 30 November 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He did graduation (B.A.) from Goddard College. He married Lindsay Crouse (1977-1990) and later married Rebecca Pidgeon in 1991. He is the father of four children. He is famous for his works “The Duck Variations” (1971), “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” (1974), and “Glengarry Glen Ross” (1983). He was a founding member of the Atlantic Theatre Company in 1985. In 2002, he was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.

His first produced screenplay was “The Postman Always Rings Twice” in 1981. In 1987, Mamet made his debut in film directing with his Screenplay “House of Games.” It won the Best Screenplay awards at the Venice Film Festival in 1987. He also won Film of the year award in 1989 for this Screenplay. Later, He wrote and directed two more films on Con artists, “The Spanish Prisoner” in 1997 and “ Heist Click to look into! >> Read More... ” in 2001. Heist got much more recognition from the spectators and enjoyed the most enormous commercial success. He won the Golden Osella, the Golden Ciak, the Pasinetti Award, and the Cinecritica Award in 1987 for his film “House of Games”. He won the Los Charles Award in 1999 for “The Winslow Boy”.

He also won the ALFS Award in 1989 and 1992, the Wise Owl Award in 1994, the Jury Award in 2000, the Florida Film Critics Circle Award in 2001, the Laurel Award in 2005 and, the ShoWest Award in 2008. He was nominated for an Oscar Award in 1983 for his Legal Drama “The Verdict.” He is nominated for many more Awards, such as BAFTA Film Award in 1991, CFCA Award in 1993, DGA Award in 2014, Edgar Award in 1989 and 1999, Emmy Award in 2013, Golden Globe in 1983,1988, and 1998, Golden Satellite Awrad in 2001, Golden Lion Award in 1988, WGA Award in 1983,1988, 1993, and 1998, Chlotrudious Awrad in 1999, 2000, and 2001, Chainsaw Award in 2002, OFTA Award in 1998 and 2013, Felix Award in 2013 and 2018.
