Plot
Ittoop (Vijayaraghavan) is a man in the age of nineties who has been married to Kochuthresiya (KPAC Leela) for almost 80 years. There are many members in their family, including their children and grandchildren. Till now, they have lived a happy life without any fights. Both of them show care for tiny things about each other.

), is getting married, and her wedding preparations are in full swing. Things become interesting when Ittoop finds a letter sent to his wife, Kochuthresiya, over 50 years ago. His children and grandchildren ignore this, but Ittoop becomes furious. He decides to file a divorce and hires a lawyer, Jikku Mon (Basil Joseph). His granddaughter, Elsy, tries to find out the truth and the person who wrote the letter. She takes the help of lawyer Jikku Mon.Â

Star Performance
After Ekalavyan (1993) and Roudram (2008), Vijayaraghavan's performance as a 100-year-old man is outstanding in this film. His expressions, makeup, walks, and posture look perfect on screen. He is the strength of this film from start to finish. KPAC Leela gives her best and does not hesitate in any of the scenes. Even at such an age, Leela gave an electrifying performance.
Annu Antony looks decent on the screen. She makes the film interesting by finding a solution to the rift between her grandparents. She shows all her emotions according to the situation.
Basil Joseph and Johny Antony make the film entertaining by adding comedy. Vineeth Sreenivasan, who played the role of a judge, makes the film impressive through his dialogue delivery. Abu Salim and Jagadish gave decent performances.
Analysis
Director Ganesh Raj returns after a gap of seven years with this beautiful romantic drama. The story of Pookkaalam is very unique. The director has crafted all the scenes beautifully by mixing old and young actors. Pookkaalam, which translates to season of flowers, is based on a real incident that happened in Italy. The scene in which Ittoop calls all the family members and shows them his wife’s love letter is superb.
Besides emotional scenes, Sarath Sabha, Johny Antony, and Basil Joseph make the viewers laugh through their comedy. The first half seems to be a little bit away from the main subject. The second half is superb and connects with the viewers. It takes the film to another level. The makeup artist deserves a lot of appreciation for the transformation of Vijayaraghavan. The cinematography by Anand C Chandran captures all the emotional and comedic scenes perfectly. The songs by Sachin Warrier make the film’s atmosphere pleasant.
