Abu Salim is an Indian actor who mainly acts in Malayalam movies. He hails from Kalpetta, Wayanad. He is famous for his villain roles and he has done a few character roles too. He is active in the film industry from the year 1978 to till date. Abu Salim has acted in more than 151 movies in various languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. He debuted with the movie “Rajan Paranja Kadha”. The movie was directed by Mani Swami and was released in the year 1978. Acting was his passion and still continues it but by profession he was a police officer. He retired from the police department and now is active in the film industry. He has also won the Mr. Calicut title (1981), Mr. South India (1983), Mr. Kerala (1982) and the Mr. India title twice.
He is married to Ummukulsu and the couple has a son Sanu Salim and a daughter Sabitha. His son is running a Calicut based media studio “Bit frames”. Sanu Salim has also acted in a few Malayalam movies, including “
