Actor, songwriter, comedian & filmmaker, Tyler Perry specialises in every field he works in most of the time. With works that caught the public eye throughout the 1990s, he is known to produce & write his plays, which have garnered him international acclaim. Having a current net worth of a whopping 600 million dollars, & Forbes’s 2011 highest paid man in the entertainment industry, Perry managed to surpass his achievements year after year. Born on September 13, 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Perry is best known for the portrayal of a rugged black woman who we know today as Madea.

Some of the stage-plays of the screenwriter were converted into movies, with successful films produced after adapting his scripts & storylines in the past. He won critical fame through the show ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,’ which aired on the TBS for eight seasons & won the hearts of audiences from all around the world. Since then he has struck a deal with Oprah Winfrey & her network, for bringing scripted television into light. After the achievements of the House of Payne, he made several scripted series, the most famous being ‘The Haves & the Have Nots.’ Carrying on the lineage of his parents, Emmitt Perry Sr. & Willie Maxine Perry, he is in a relationship with humanitarian, social activist & model Gelila Bekele, with whom he has one child.

In his earlier days, before he was the worldwide phenomenon he is now, he worked hard to raise a budget from the ticket sales of his production houses for his first work which was titled ‘Diary Of A Mad Black Woman,’ which went on to be a hit. Since then, notable works of his include ‘Madea’s Family Reunion,’ that opened at the box office with large numbers. He has promoted a number of them on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ whom he collaborated with early on. In 2007, Idris Elba & Gabrielle Union were roped in to star in his first Lions gate project called ‘Daddy’s Little Girls,’ whose success prompted him to write & direct his next venture, even going on to star in ‘Why Did I Get Married’ in the same year.

His largest opening came through ‘Madea Goes to Jail,’ which was his seventh work with Lions gate Entertainment. He had a small role in 2009s cult classic ‘Star Trek,’ where he played the role of Admiral Barnett, which was his first appearance in a movie outside his works. Other movies he is a part of include ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’, ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’, ‘Good Deeds’, ‘Madea’s Witness Protection’, where he acted as the titular character. In Patterson’s 2012 movie adaptation ‘Alex Cross,’ he played the protagonist again.

He was cast alongside A-listers like Ben Affleck & Rosamund Pike in 2014s Oscar-nominated film ‘Gone Girl.’ He is a joint partner of the OWN with Oprah Winfrey, & the author of reputed novels like ‘Madea’s Uninhibited Commentaries on Love & Life’, which was on the best-seller list of New York Times for twelve weeks, winning awards such as Best Humor Book at the Quill Awards 2006. He was nominated for prizes like ‘The Golden Raspberry Awards,’ ‘BET Awards’, ‘Image Awards’ & ‘Black Reel Awards.’ He currently lives with his family in Southwest Atlanta, working & operating in Tyler Film & TV studios.
