He was born on June 2, 1972, in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England. Wentworth's parents' names are Roxann and Wentworth E. Miller II. While Roxann taught special children, Wentworth E. Miller II was a lawyer and a teacher.
Besides Wentworth, the couple also has two daughters named Gillian and Leigh. At the time of Wentworth's birth, his father was a student at Oxford University. When he turned one, his family migrated to Park Slope, Brooklyn.
He studied English literature from the Princeton University. Besides studying, he was a member of a music group named Princeton Tigertones, Colonial Club, and Quadrangle Club. In 1995, he graduated from the Princeton University.
After graduation, Wentworth moved to Los Angeles in search of acting opportunities. He had to struggle a lot but didn't lose hope as it was his only passion. Finally, Wentworth got his first break with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
He followed OT up with Dinotopia. After Dinotopia, Wentworth starred in myriad movies and TV series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Prison Break Series, The Human Stain, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and much more. He has written The Disappointments Room and Stoker and also produced the latter.
Wentworth has lent his voice to a video-game named Prison Break: The Conspiracy and has appeared in the videos of Mariah Carey's We Belong Together, and It's Like That. He has won several nominations for his stellar performances and is the winner of the Saturn Award's Best Guest Starring Role on Television category .
Since he was born in America, he holds dual citizenship of America and England both. Though initially, Wentworth rebuffed the news, in 2013, he accepted his sexual preference and declared himself as a gay. Wentworth even declined to accept the invitation of Saint Petersburg International Film Festival since the Russian government was intolerant of the LGBTQ community.
Since childhood, Wentworth suffered with depression which doubled up when he became an actor. His weight increased a lot. He even tried to kill himself on multiple occasions. However, it was his involvement with the ManKind Project that kept him sane. Wentworth is the ambassador of Active Minds, an organization that focuses on mental health.
