Keith Williams was born on 4th June 1956 in New York City’s Harlem, USA. His full name is Keith David Williams. Keith is an actor in films and television, singer and voice artist. David was brought up in Corona, Queens borough in New York City. His parents were Lester Williams, a payroll operations director, and Dolores, a New York Telephone manager. David took up theater in school. He decided to pursue acting after he did a play in his school titled The Wizards of Oz, in which he played the Cowardly Lion. After schooling, he attended the School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. He then joined the Drama Division at the Julliard School. It was in 1979 that he completed his graduation in Fine Arts from there.
The actor was married twice. He is currently married to singer-actress Dionne Lea Williams. After graduation, the actor travelled extensively across the nation in 1980-81 as part of the ‘The Acting Company’ of John Houseman. He was part of the company’s productions like Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. David played the role of Childs in the film and the film went on to be a success. In 1986, Keith did a war-based movie called Platoon, in which he starred as King. Most recently, Keith appeared in a sci-fi drama called Person of Interest from 2011 to 2016. He appears as Lieutenant Williams in the drama series The Job. Keith has remained active as a voice actor for quite some time and has worked in various documentaries, commercials, video games and animated movies. He has given his voice to many memorable characters. He has done narration in documentaries like The War, Jackie Robinson, Jazz, Mark Twain and The Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson. This documentary won him an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Voice- Over category. The commercial Adult Swim for Inuyasha has David’s voice. In the video game Saints Row, David plays the role of Julius, the gang leader. In the animated American TV series Gargoyles, Keith gave his voice to the protagonist Goliath’s character, the Manhattan Clan’s leader. In 2013, he was the narrator in the TV miniseries named The Bible. The show received mixed reviews. He has won a Tony nomination for his performance as supporting actor in the musical Jelly’s Last Jam.
