Jyothika is a highly famous Indian cinema artist. Though she belonged to Tamil Industry, her skill and talent have gone viral to Bollywood and Telugu movie industry as well at one point. She is a winner of one award from Filmfare and three awards from Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. She has also received Kalaimamani award.

Jyothika started her career in Tamil industry with a movie called ‘ Vaali’ in 1999. However, she got her first hit as a leading heroin through the movie ‘ Kushi’. After this film, she had successful hits in a row. ‘Mugavaree’, ‘Dumm Dumm Dumm’ and ‘ Snegithiye’ are few in that series. In most of her movies, she was never an arm candy who would just show up in songs, next to the hero. Her movies are all carefully chosen where her role is in equal importance with the hero. She acted in a movie called ‘ Thenali’, opposite to Kamal Haasan. In 2003, she did a movie by name ‘Kaaka Kaaka’ with Suriya Sivakumar. This movie had gained her immense credits in terms of commercial success and popularity. She gave several hits along with Suriya Sivakumar, whom she dated for many years before finally getting married to. Her acting ability was recognized nationwide and spread to the world, through the movie ‘ Chandramukhi’. She received several awards for her exceptional performance in this film. According to Hindu, she was the "virtually the undisputed queen of Kollywood" then.

After dating for more than seven years, Jyothika married her co-star Suriya Sivakumar. Though their religions are different, the couple stands as the best couple even today, after 9 years of marriage. They are blessed with two children, Diya and Dev. After the marriage and family life, she made a comeback into the industry through a movie by name ‘ 36 Vayadhinile’. She was a brand ambassador for RmKV silk sarees. She promoted Aircel, Nescafe along with husband Suriya.

Jyothika Saravanan, an actress, born on 18th October 1978 is known for her roles in Tamil films like ‘Chandramukhi’, ‘ Mozhi’, and ‘Kushi’. Apart from Tamil films she also acted in Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films.

Jyothika was born in Mumbai to ChanderSadanah. She has done her schooling from learner’s academy situated in Mumbai. She has also done a master’s degree in psychology at Mithibai college, Mumbai.

Jyothika got married to actor Suriya Sivakumar on 11th September 2006 after being engaged to him. She starred opposite to him for an extended period of time and screen space in movies like ‘Poovellam Kettuppar’, ‘Uyirile Kalanthathu’, ‘Kaaka Kaaka’, ‘Perazhagan’, ‘Maayavi’, ‘June R’ and ‘ Sillunu Oru Kaadhal’. The couple has two children, Diya, and Dev. She also has a brother Suraj who is an assistant to director ' Priyadarshan'.

Jyothika debuted in the film “Doli Saja Ke Rakhna” which was directed by ‘Priyadarshan’. It was also rumored in India today magazine that she had lapsed into depression after her film flopped. However, her first acting role was that of a cameo in ‘Vaali’ (1999). The success of the movie ‘Kushi’ was a turning point in her career.

She worked alongside with Mani Ratnam for the first time by appearing in his production house, Madras Talkies' romantic comedy ‘Dumm Dumm Dumm’ and shared the silver screen with ‘ R Madhavan’. The film won positive critic reviews and became a success not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Andhra Pradesh with its dubbed version.

She won her first Filmfare for the film ‘Vaali’ in 1999. She made a comeback recently with the film ‘36 Vayaddhinile’, which got an encouraging critic and audience response from the public.
