James, born on June 9th, 1951, in Los Angeles, is a famous American composer, musician, and writer. He belonged to a family well versed in music. Years later, after the death of his father, he came to know that his father was Jewish, and so later on, he changed into a practicing Jew. He began his study in music and took lessons in piano since the age of four. He attended the Thacher School and Music Academy of the West, California. After leaving college, he joined a band and worked as a musician. In the initial years of his career, he was very unstable, financially, but gradually rose with his hard work. He joined Elton’s band as a keyboardist. He also played the piano. Some of Elton’s hits include Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Rock of the Westies, Blue Moves, 21 at 33, and The Fox. In 1982, he appeared in Toto IV, I Won’t Hold You Back, Afraid of Love, and Lovers in the Night. In 1983, he released the album, James Newton Howard and Friends, which earned him great fame.
In 1983, he was the co-producer and musician of the album, ‘Sincerita’. After writing a film score for a small time movie, his career as a music composer began. After becoming a renowned film composer, he did not give up on music completely, but returned again with Elton on his Tour de France of Australia. He conducted orchestrated performances from Elton’s songs itself.
