James Marsden is an American actor, singer, and model. Marsden hails from Stillwater, Oklahoma. His father, James Luther Marsden, teaches animal sciences and industry at Kansas State University. Marsden has a big family which includes his two younger brothers and two younger sisters. When James was nine years old, his parents had a divorce. He went to Hefner Middle School and later studied at Putnam City North High School. Marsden wanted to study broadcast journalism, unlike his parent's profession. He took admission at Oklahoma State University but dropped out in the first year to take up acting as his profession. He commenced his acting career with television shows by making special appearances only. His television series include Saved by the Bell: The new class, Party of Five and Touched by an Angel. Soon he was noticed by the director of the television show; The Nanny offered him to play the role of Eddie, who is Margaret Sheffield's boyfriend, in the series. Marsden got his first break in television with 'The Nanny'. Following that he was cast in another television series Ally McBeal, in which he played an important character during the first half of the fifth season. In this series, he made his debut as a singer. By the end of that series, he appeared in the Canadian television series Boogies Diner. Although it aired for only one season, he was becoming famous among the youngsters.

Later Marsden returned to television after many years with an appearance on ABC's Modern Family in 2011. He also did independent films which included Robot & Frank, Small Apartments, Bachelorette and As Cool as I Am. In 2013, he worked in 2 Guns, an action film with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. He played President John F. Kennedy in the historical drama, The Butler. The film received positive reviews. Marsden played the character of Scott Summers after a gap of eight years in X-Men: Days of Future Past in a cameo. He would be working once again in Nicholas Sparks film The Best of me after 'The Notebook'. Marsden dated 'Days of our Lives' actress Lisa Linde and got married in the year 2000.This 'much in love couple' gave birth to two children, Jack, and Mary. Later in 2011, Lisa filed a divorce, and the couple got separated with mutual consent after eleven years of marriage.
