Jamie Bell was born on 14th March 1986 in England. He is a dancer and an actor. He took performing arts classes at Stagecoach Theatre Arts. He debuted in films playing the lead role in Billy Elliot in 2000. He went on to win a BAFTA for the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the character he played in the movie. He appeared in Close & True as Mark Sheedy. In 2002, he acted in Deathwatch as Charlie Shakespeare and Nicholas Nickleby as Smike. In 2004, he played the role of Chris Munn in Undertow. He appeared in three movies in the year 2005: Dear Wendy, The Chumscrubber, and . The same year, he appeared in the video of "Green Day’s Wake Me Up When September Ends" opposite Evan Rachel Woods and they started dating. He played the role of Iggy Ignatowski in Flags of Our Fathers in 2006. He played the lead role in Hallam Foe in 2007 and was nominated for the best actor award at the British Independent Film Awards. He starred in two movies in 2008: Jumper and Defiance.

In 2011, after a brief hiatus, he appeared in five different movies: , Jane Eyre, Retreat, Stainless Steel and The Adventures of Tintin. He appeared as Joey Cassidy in 2012 film, Man on a Ledge. In 2013, he acted in Snowpiercer, Filth, and Nymphomaniac. In 2014, he started appearing as Abraham Woodhull in the TV show, TURN: Washington’s Spies. He appeared as Ben Grimm in the 2015 movie, . Jamie married on 30th October 2012. Their son was born on 29th July 2013. They separated in May 2014. He has given his voice to video game characters. He voiced Jimmy in Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie(2005) and Griffin O’Conner in Jumper: Griffin’s Story (2008).
