Born two months premature, Katie Holmes is the daughter of Kathleen Ann, a philanthropist and Martin Holmes, a lawyer. It is reported that her strong-willed personality is probably due to her premature birth. Right from her teenage, she attended the modeling school and was encouraged by her teacher to participate in modeling competitions where she won several awards. After bagging several awards, she said she was not interested in modeling as it was not challenging enough and it is important to mention here that she also enrolled in acting classes while modeling.

When she was seventeen-year-old, she moved to Los Angeles to seek chances on the silver screen. Because of her will-powered nature (or by luck), she landed a cast in her second audition itself and joined the crew of The Ice Storm. Though it contained a bit-part role for Holmes, it marked the beginning of her acting career. These part roles caught the eyes of Kevin Williamson, who booked her for his teen drama Dawson’s Creek (1998). Believe it or not, while engaged in the series she was lined up for two movies as well- Disturbing Behavior (1998) and ‘ Go’ (1999) where she won the Best Breakthrough Award for the former. H

er first lead role came in 2002 with ‘Abandon’. After six years when Dawson’s Creek came to a close, she had two films in her kitty Pieces of April and Singing Detective. In the year 2004, she featured in the romantic movie First Daughter. As her career was beginning to rise she was the chosen one for Batman Begins (2005).

Further, this was the year when she started dating actor Tom Cruise and within a year, it was Jingle Bells as the couple officialized their marriage in Los Angeles and they were called “TOMKAT”. In 2008, she returned to television when she appeared in Eli Stone. In 2009, she was filming the remake of Don’t be Afraid of the Dark and in 2011, she starred in How I met your Mother and The Kennedys.

In 2012, it was shocking news as Holmes filed for a divorce with Tom and in July, they both had reached a divorce settlement with legal terms. She came back to the Broadway stage in November 2012 starring in Dead Accounts. In 2013, she made a stunning comeback with her voluptuous look in the ad for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. Then she was announced as the Brand Ambassador and co-owner of Alterna Haircare that creates groundbreaking formulas that set the industry standards for finest luxury haircare products in the world.
