Luc Besson is a film director, producer, and screenwriter; he works in French Film Industry. Luc Besson was born on 18th March 1959 in Paris, France. His parents were scuba-diving instructors. Luc aspired to become the marine biologist in his childhood as he used to go to several tourist spots with his parents. Later, his parents got separated; by which Luc was affected at a certain point. He was 17 when he developed an interest in making films as he loved writing and taking pictures. He started with making short films. At the age of 18, Luc started doing various jobs in the movie-making line. He assisted the directors Pattrick Grandperret and Claude Faraldo. During that time, he directed many commercials, three of his short film and a documentary. He then went to the US for three years before coming back to Paris. After his return, Luc started his production house, which was named Les Films du Loup initially and was changed to Les Films du Dauphin later.
In early 1980's, Luc got known to Eric Serra, who composed the score for Luc’s short film and also some movies in future. Luc has been the writer and producer of the films like ‘Taxi’ (1998-2007), ‘The Transporter’ (2002-2008), ‘

movies like ‘Kiss of the Dragon’ and ‘Unleashed/Danny the Dog’. He has won the Best Director and Best French Director Award for the movie ‘The Fifth Element’ (1997). Luc also earned the nomination for Best Picture Cesar and Best Director Awards for ‘The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc’ and ‘Leon: The Professional’ (1994) respectively. He has also received Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film Critics Prize. Cinema du look movement started in the 1980s till early 1990s; the movement marked the highly visual style movies. The critic, Raphael Bassan, gave this term. Luc was among the three directors to be named in this period, other two being Leos Carax and Jean-Jacques Beineix. Luc’s movies like ‘Subway’ (1985), ‘The Big Blue’ (1988) and ‘Nikita’ (1990) are considered in this movement.
