Jason Reitman was born on 19th October, 1977, in the Canadian city, Montreal.

He is the elder brother of Catherine Reitman, also an actress, and Caroline Reitman, a nurse. Jason got married to actress, Michele Lee, in 2004. In spite of a 10-year long relationship, they ended up getting a divorce. Jason and Michele are the parents of the actress, Josephine Reitman.
Jason was a high school student at Harvard-Westlake School. He was also a high jumper in his school days. He did his graduation in English Literature from the University of Southern California.
From the University of Southern California, Jason started directing various short films. In his 20s, he was part of many short movies and rejected many offers to direct major films like Dude, Where’s My Car?
His first full-length movie was the 2006 comedy, Thank You Click to look into! >> Read More... for Smoking. He is credited with the development of the novel, Christopher Buckley, into a film. It was the film which led to Jason’s huge publicity.
Jason’s second movie was ‘Juno’ in 2007. It was an independent comedy movie, based on the life of a teenager and how she dealt with her early pregnancy. Reitman has got many honors for his work in the field of direction. His first movie, Thank You For Smoking (2005), fetched him many awards. He received awards for the Best Screenplay by the Las Vegas Film Critics Society, Best Directorial Debut from the National Review Board, and Best Adapted Screenplay, among others. For his second movie, Juno (2007), he secured the second place in the People’s Choice Award at the International Toronto Film Festival, the award for the Best Director from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, and also got nominated for the Academy Award for the Best Director. In 2010, he was nominated at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards under the categories of Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and the Best Director.
