James Watkins was always a fan of horror movies from his childhood. His works also has a horror touch. He worked on two films in the early 2000s, both of them made it to the screen. In the year 2002, he worked on the movie My Little Eye. He came up with a screenplay so good that he refused to sell it until and unless he would get to film it as well, it was of the script of the movie Eden Lake (2008).

The plot focused on a young couple’s getaway which turned into a life threatening experience for them. Two dangerous teens attacked them, it was a horrible experience for them. It was an intense graphic movie that gained fortune for him. Hammer Films, the British Film Production company hired him to rebuild their brand. Hammer introduced many horror elements in the British cinema in the 1950s.

Hammer production came up with monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula, and many other monsters. For a long time the Hammer remained inactive, then the company was bought by new investors. The Watkins earned by the movie Eden Lake gave him the opportunity to work on the film The Women in Black. It is the most successful movie for the Hammers.

The movie came in the year 2012 starring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. It was a worldwide hit movie. The Guardian directed by him won the Empire Award for the best horror movie; he won the Best Director Award at Fantasporto. Before direction, he was on a contract with the Working Title Films for writing scripts. Under that contract, he wrote several scripts that include the horror thriller My Little Eye, Gone, and The Descendent 2. With time, James became famous for script writing. He has also written scripts for BBC Films and Film4.

As of now, he is currently working on projects with Warner Bros with producers Will Clarke and Pathe.
