Dolph Lundgren is a well known martial artist, actor, screenwriter and a director in Hollywood. He was born as Hans Lundgren ( name changed to Dolph as he took this name from one of his relative) in Sweden to the couple Sigrid Birgitta and Karl John Hugo Lundgren. He grew up in Stockholm and did his schooling there until he moved to his grandparents’ home.

But Lundgren always had the dream to go to America. When he was young, Dolph was abused by his father and he took up boxing to let out his frustration and to ease his pain. But he got some allergies due to that so Lundgren dropped from sports. He thought the only way to make his dream a reality was through academics as his parents did not have enough money to send their son to the United States,so Dolph started working hard and started studying chemistry in one of the top university, Washington State University.

According to the Swedish government, every boy in the family had to compulsorily take up at least two years of military training. So after Doug finished his training he went to the Royal Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. Though he excelled in his studies his passion for karate and boxing didn't die out. So he won a black belt in karate in the year 1978. Then he attended the Sydney University where he got his master's degree in chemical engineering. He worked as a part time bouncer and he met singer Grace Jonas for the first time who hired Doug as her bodyguard. Then they both fell in love and moved to New York and started living together. He was introduced into the world of acting by Jones while he was still studying in MIT.

Then Dolph thought that working in movies were fun and was a wiser option then being an engineer so he quit MIT just two weeks after joining. When Grace received a role in a James Bond movie in 1980 she suggested Dolph to try for a role in the same flick and then he bagged the role of a spy agent in the motion picture. When Dolph who was still unknown to many went to an audition for the movie Rocky IV directed by Sylvester Stallone he did not get the role of Ivan Drago as he was "too tall." But Lundgren did not give up and he started doing vigorous workout for about five months to act in Rocky IV. After that he sent out some of his pictures to the producer and he got a call from Los Angeles confirming his part as the villain for Rocky IV.

During the shooting, Dolph almost killed Sylvester by his huge body and massive fighting skills. It was explained by Stallone in an interview where he stated that after he had taken many blows from Dolph he felt a pain in his chest and was immediately admitted in a hospital with serious injuries to his heart under intensive care for about a week.

During its premiere Lundgren still recalls when he came out on the streets with Grace he was being pictured instead of the singer. This later went on to their break up as Jones could not handle being the "second" successful person in the relationship. Later he got the lead role in the 1987 picture, Masters of the Universe and it was a sleeper hit.

Lundgren then reunited with Stallone for the most important flick in his career ' The Expendables' in 2010. Even in its sequels in 2014 and 2012 he came back to his role as Gunner Jensen. In 1994, Doug got married to Anette Qviberg but they got divorced in the year 2011. They have two children together.
