Leslye Headland

Leslye Headland is a well-known playwright, director, and screenwriter from America. Born in 1981, Leslye lived in Westport, Connecticut during her early years. She attended Staples High School in 1999 and graduated from Tisch School of the Arts in 2002. Currently, she lives in New York.

Career

Headland holds a degree of fine arts in Theatre Direction. She had to struggle her way in her twenties to get herself established as a writer and director. Her love for the art of direction got her to direct acting schools, or she used to ask people to enact a scene and direct them or sometimes spent her money and time on a black box, pursuing her passion. Personal Life

Headland says that she always wanted to write and direct films, but thought it to be a rather far-fetched and improbable goal owing to the hardships in the field, especially for a woman.

Describing her twenties as a period of preparations - trying, failing, learning; she says that thirty established her as a ‘legitimate’ writer and director. Leslye values her inner peace; she starts her day by meditation sessions of varied lengths- 20 long minutes or just five short ones. She also has a pet dog and loves to go for a walk with it in the mornings, and her afternoons are dedicated to her work, and evenings see her exercising. On weekends, she takes on her social responsibilities during which she not only volunteers for a rehabilitation centre in Queens but also spends quality time with her family.
