Christo Bakalov is well known Hollywood cinematographer born in 1957 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He attended the National Theatre and Film Art Academy and graduated with a Masters degree in Cinematography in 1985. CAT’S TAILS was his debut film which was 35mm short narrative directed by Virginia Kostadinova. He has shot more than 33 films with various directors including Krasimir Krumov, Dimiter Petkov, and many more.
Christo got a US green card, thus moving to the United States where he continued his journey as a cinematographer. After, moving to the US Christo, worked in number in movies like WHIRLYGIRL, DANCING WITH WOLVES, and THE SHUNNING. Christo Bakalov has won the Bulgarian and American Best Cinematography awards and also the member of Bulgarian Association of Cinematographers (BAC), associated with IMAGO.
