Diego Romero, also known as Diego Suarez-Llanos, is a skilled cinematographer and writer from Spain. He was born on 1st February 1975 in Santiago de Compostela. He studied photography at the Film School of Barcelona and went on to learn film studies at Concordia University. He later taught film photography as a teacher in the Philippines. He established his talent early in his film career by making short films in London and Brussels. Even in his childhood, he gained viewership and worked on content creation by starting a YouTube channel. In an industry often controlled by high production value, Diego set himself apart by striving to create high-quality films without expensive equipment or outsourcing.
He describes himself as an independent filmmaker updated on technical skills and artistic elements. Diego made his first venture into feature films during his stay in India. He continued to travel through the Americas and Europe and proved himself in international cinema. Although he has a base in Spain, he commits to his work by often traveling to far-off locations. He was also the cinematographer in films such as Ignacio Vilar’s ‘A Esmorga’ and Petr Václav’s ‘Il Boemo.’ Diego Romero has received numerous awards and honors over the years. In 2015, Mestre Mateo Awards awarded him the ‘Best Cinematographer’ title for his work in A Esmorga. Film festivals such as Big Screen Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival have honored him.
