5 Weddings” is scripted and directed by Namrata Singh Gujral. The film is produced by Namrata under the banner Uniglobe Entertainment. The film has the music composition of Christopher French. Christo Bakalov cranked the camera and Steve Mirkovich edited the film. The film has the star cast of Rajkummar Rao, Nargis Fakhri, Bo Derek, Soha Ali Khan, Anneliese Van Der Pol, Shiwani Saini, Suvinder Vicky, Saru Maini, Mariana Vicente, Dawn Richard, “Dilijott” and Robert Palmer Watkins.

Shanaya Singh, who is settled in the US, had to visit India to cover five Indian weddings in Chandigarh, to get a place in the top fashion magazine. Her mom asks Shanaya to track her father, who left them, long back and asked her to give a parcel when he meets him. When she lands India, she has a tough meeting with Harbhajhan Singh, a cop. Shanaya witnesses how the transgender is treated in India and decided to add it to her article. Although she came to India half-heartedly, she starts developing a bonding with the country. What happens next? Did she return to the US? Watch the film on the silver screen.

Star Performance

As usual, Rajkummar had done his job quite neatly and easily. Although Nargis had given a decent performance, Rajkummar’s performance excels her. The chemistry between them is unimpressive.

If the director has decided to focus on the Indian culture, he shouldn’t have scripted it for five weddings. If it had been made as a single wedding, it would have been better to move the script. To attend five weddings, it is really a big task for a person, who had no idea about the culture and the logic kicks out here. The music is not much impressive.  The production values are okayish and the cinematography too.

What’s There?

  • The performances of the stars are good
  • The production values are good

What’s Not There?

  • The chemistry between the leads is not impressive
  • Illogical scenes irritate the viewers
  • A social message in this film doesn’t get highlighted
  • Predictable scenes make the viewers lose interest in the film

Although the makers decided to highlight the cultural weddings, attending five Indian weddings to get the job doesn’t make sense. With a few good scenes, the film gives an okayish watch!
