Plot
Kathir is the Special Protection Group officer, who involves in protecting the nation and the top politicians. As he is the top personnel, he has some close association with the PM. Meanwhile, Anjali, the secretary to the PM falls for the SPG officer, Kathir. Kathir carries out secret operations for India. He had been in Pakistan for one such operation. A terrorist group tries to assassinate the Prime Minister. Although he escapes from them multiple times, the terrorists didn’t stop their attack. Will he be saved in their latest attempt? What is Kathir’s participation in this? Watch the film to know the rest!
Star Performance
Suriya has excelled in the emotions and action sequences. Mohanlal steals the show with his natural acting. Yet, his role could have been provided with some more strong characterization. Arya, Boman Irani and Samuthirakani had done justice to their roles. Sayesha has a good role, unlike the template heroine.
Analysis
Although the plot could have been guessed by the audience with its teaser and trailers, the scenes couldn’t be. Yes, Anand has designed the screenplay excellently and the viewers couldn’t even guess what would happen next. The BGM by Harris is fantastic. The cinematography is perfect and Prabhu had kept the camera in different angles and made the audiences feel, as if they are on the spot, watching these happenings. The stars fit well in the roles and they have done their best. The characterization could have been a bit stronger.

Verdict
The racy thriller with power-packed performances and the high-octane action sequences is sure to win the hearts. Suriya is definitely back on his track, after a few average films. Kaappaan… is really a Kaappaan for LYCA, Suriya and KV Anand.
