Looks like S Shankar has studied the R Chandru model a bit too seriously.
Despite the massive failure of ‘Indian 2’, the director is determined that ‘Indian 3’ will release in the cinema halls, contrary to the claims that the makers might opt for a direct-to-OTT release.
In a conversation with the press, Shankar claimed that though he was not prepared for the backlash that ‘Indian 2’ would receive, he is still okay with it. However, he will not give up on the theatrical experience in the favor of an OTT release.
In case you are not aware, ‘Indian 2’ was actually a super long movie, with the final cut being around six hours long. Due to this, the makers decided to release the movie in two parts, ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Indian 3’. However, compared to the original classic that released in 1996, the sequel was a massive disappointment, both critically and commercially.
The movie only managed a lifetime total of 150 crores worldwide, compared to a huge budget of 250 crores. If not for Kamal Haasan’s production ‘ Amaran Amaran is an Indian art director who works for the >> Read More... ’, the actor’s image would have taken a severe dent this year.
