Harris Jayaraj is a veteran music composer, predominantly having worked in Tamil film industry. He is currently one of the most sought-after composers, having garnered commercial and critical success to most of his works. Right from his first work in Minnale (2001), Harris made the entire industry take notice.
He had also composed for its Bollywood remake Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, which was also a huge success. Coming from a music background, Harris’s climb to popularity was very gradual. From excelling in his music school in London to working under music maestros like AR Rahman and then making popular ad jingles like Coca-Cola, Harris has done everything to prove his position in the Tamil music industry.
Harris consistently delivered with the successive albums after his debut. He yet again hit a high point in his career with Kaakha Kaakha (2003, remade in Hindi as Force). The album fetched him great critical acclaim and numerous awards. He was now working with major names like Shankar and Murugadoss with Anniyan and Ghajini, each time delivering a hit.
He has 4 Filmfare and 8 Vijay awards to his name. As most of the Tamil films were then remade in Telugu, his works were popular even in the Telugu industry. Harris often went the extra mile in composing the Telugu version of his albums, sometimes adding a song or two (like in the case of Gharshana). His latest album was Ajith Kumar’s
, which was one of the chartbusters of 2015. His upcoming projects include Singam 3 and A.R. Murugadoss’ next, with which he will complete 50 film albums.
