“Sridevi,” the established actress in the South, made it big in Bollywood and impressed the Bollywood fans. She was born in a small village, Meenampatti, near Sivakasi in Tamilnadu. Her father is from Tamilnadu and her mother is a Telugu actress. She made her debut as a child artist at the age of 4 in 1967. In 1976, she debuted as the heroine with “Rajinikanth” and Kamal Haasan starrer, Moondru Mudichu, directed by K Balachander. She had featured in all the southern languages. In 1979, she made her Bollywood debut with Solva Sawan, the remake of 16 Vayathinile directed by Bharathiraja. After a few years, opportunities started showering and she was the dream girl in the 80s and early 90s in Bollywood.
Aishwarya Rai, who was born in Mangalore, had been one of the leading actresses in Bollywood. After grabbing the Miss World title, she was showered with a lot of opportunities. Although she was a Dream Girl in Bollywood, she made her debut in 1997 with a Tamil film, “Iruvar” with “Mohanlal” directed by Mani Ratnam, her favorite director.
