Plot

Srikanth Bolla was born in 1991 in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh to a family of farmers. His childhood was not so cool, as he had to struggle to get a good education due to his family situation. Though Srikanth was a topper with 98% marks, he was denied to get education in reputed institutions in India as he was visually challenged. However, he graduated from MIT Sloan School of Management, USA, which provided him a seat due to his meritorious marks. He was the first visually challenged student in the institution. How Srikanth set up his business in India and helped physically challenged people forms the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Rajkummar Rao excelled as Srikanth. His body language, dialogue delivery and his expressions as a visually challenged person is extremely good. Jyothika plays Devika, Srikanth’s teacher. She did her best and impressed the audience. Sharad Kelkar plays the role of Ravi, Srikanth’s friend. He makes the audience feel that everyone needs a friend like him. His performance was so good. Alaya is cute and did her part well in the given time.

Analysis

It is tough to make a biopic, as they have to cross-check with all the facts as they do for historical films. It is a bold attempt to speak about the institutions that denied education to Srikanth. The screenplay is good, and the dialogues are impressive. Alaya’s Veera Swati character should have been told better with some more depth. The cinematography and editing are good. The songs are good and the BGM is excellent. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’s Papa Kehte Hain is recreated and it is so soothing to hear. Thanks to Aditya Dev.

What’s There?

  • Excellent performances by the lead actors
  • It has a lot of inspirational moments

What’s Not There?

  • Nothing to pinpoint in particular as a negative point

Verdict

Srikanth is a good attempt to bring the biography of a living person who is full of confidence and helping nature. There are Goosebumps moments that give the audience a fine movie-watching experience. Srikanth – Watch-worthy!
