, who also came from the same industry. Her sister

is an Odissi dancer, while her step siblings are Vijeeta, Ajeeta,

Sunny Deol
. Bobby and Sunny were both successful actors as well. Esha studied at Mithibai College in Mumbai. She was keen about football and was a midfielder. Esha was also the captain of the football team in her school and she was represented at the state level. Like her sister Ahana, she is also a trained Odissi dancer under Guru Rabindra Atibuddhi and also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.Â
Esha was debuted in the 2002 Bollywood romance-thriller film Koi Mere Dil Se Poochee, where she earned praises and nomination at the Filmfare Awards for Best Female Debut. Her second film was entitled Na Tum Jaano Na Hum opposite
Hrithik Roshan
and
Saif Ali Khan
. However, the film failed to make it to the box-office but she was still praised by her mature performance. Her third film was the romantic comedy film Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa opposite
Tusshar Kapoor
and just like her second film, the film flopped but she earned critical acclaim.Â
She became a critically acclaimed actress in most of her films and later focused in doing multi-starrer films. Her breakthrough role was from the Tamil film Aayutha Ezhuthu in year 2004, where she played the role of a French teacher opposite Suriya. After this, she started filming the Hindi version of the film entitled Yuva, but this time, she was paired with Ajay Devgn but it is still under the direction of Mani Ratnam.Â

Esha played a supporting role in her first commercial success film, Dhoom in 2004. This was her first action role, where she earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the IIFA Award. This was followed by several multi-starrer films like Dus and

in year 2005. Most of Esha’s role earned her critical acclaim including Vikram Bhatt’s Ankahee in 2006 and Ram Gopal Varma’s Darling in 2007. After this, the talented actress took a hiatus from acting and made a comeback in year 2011 through the Bollywood drama film Tell Me O Kkhuda, where she played the main lead role. This film was helmed and produced by her mother Hema Malini.Â

Bharat Takhtani
on February 12, 2012 and they got married on June 29 of the same year. This year, she is yet to do a Kannada film entitled Care of Footpath 2 and the Hindi film Kill Them Young. She also joined the popular reality show, MTV Roadies.
