K Jayakumar

Jayakumar is an IAS officer from Kerala. He had been the Chief Secretary of the Kerala Government. Jayakumar was born on 6^th October 1952 in Trivandrum. He was born to Krishnan Nair, the popular Malayalam director. His mother is Sulochana Devi. Jayakumar has two brothers, Sreekumar, the famous Malayalam director and Harikumar. Like his father, Jayakumar is also interested in the movie field. Although he was in the Indian Administrative Service, he is interested in penning the lyrics and script for movies. He is a good poet too. Jayakumar is one of the important people in founding the Malayalam University. He was the founding Vice-Chancellor of the Malayalam University.

In 1980, he completed the IAS and started his career as an Assistant Collector. He had also been the District Collector of Kozhikode. Besides this, Jayakumar had been the director of the Tourism Department in the Kerala Government, Managing Director of Film Development Corporation, Secretary in Tourism And Culture in Kerala and Agriculture Production Commissioner in Kerala. He had been the Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism And Culture for the Government of India. From April 2012 to October 2012, he had been the Chief Secretary of Kerala.

In the film career, Jayakumar has penned lyrics for 100 movies and albums. Besides being a lyric writer and screenplay writer, Jayakumar directed a children's movie. He had written 25 books in Malayalam and four books in English. He had also translated the books of Tagore, Rumi and Khalil Gibran. Some of his poems are Santhapavriksham, Rathriyude Sadhyathakal, Ardhavrithangal and Solamante Pranayageethangal. Jayakumar is married to Meera and the couple has two children, Anand and Ashwathi.
