Malayalam Web Series Poacher

Poacher is a crime and drama generic web series, which was released on OTT platforms in Malayalam and other dubbed languages. The first season of the series has eight episodes, where each episode unfolds the undercover crimes and heinous acts that take place in the forests of Kerala, even after issuing the wildlife protection act. The talented director Richie Mehta is the all in one creator, director and writer of the web series. The leading characters of the web series are Roshan Mathew, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Nimisha Sajayan,  Ankith Madhav, Kani Kusruti, Ranjitha Menon and Maala Parvathi. The cinematographer Johan Heurlin Aidt and the editors Beverly Mills, Susan Shipton and Justien Li have amazed the audience with fine screenplays and editing. The producers and executive producers of the series, Alia Bhatt, Prerna Singh, Edward H Hamm Jr. and Raymond Mansfield have produced the web series under several production houses including QC entertainment, Suitable Pictures, Poor Mans Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Plot

The story of the web series is based on true events that took place in the dense forests of Kerala. The on duty forest officers and conservatory in charge formed a team to investigate the ivory trading and elephant poaching. The officers took this decision after the confession of a forest watcher, who was a part of the heinous crime that took place with several elephants. How will they stop the corruption and unveil a series of lies? How will a few good men make a big difference in society and stop illegal trading?

Star Performance

The characters of the web series Nimisha Sajayan, a forest officer Divyendu Bhattacharya, a director in forest department of Kerala and Roshan Mathew a computer expert imbibe on a journey to stop the crime against elephants and illegal ivory trading. The determined and in depth performance of the characters in the series have left the audiences with an undying influence.

Analysis

The series showcases the hidden part of the dense forests of Kerala, where despite the enforcement of the wildlife protection act, the criminals indulge in the monstrous crime of killing the elephants to do ivory trading. However, after getting such disturbing news the officers and the conservation activist come together to save the wildlife. The officers leave their personal lives behind and work relentlessly to save the elephants, as they are an essential part of the ecosystem. The courageous act of  Nimisha Sajayan in the male-centric field is highly appreciable. The realistic shooting location and the well crafted scenes helps the audience to understand the depth and seriousness of the sinful act. The climax of the series reflects the truth of how the greed of human beings leads to crime and the killing of innocent wild animals.
