Kottayam Chellapan was a renowned supporting actor and director in Malayalam cinema. He was an active stage actor and one of the most famous supporting actors during the 1960s and 1970s. He started his career as a stage and drama artist, and then he tried his luck in producing films. As a director, his first movie through which he rose to fame was Aalorungi Arangorungi in 1986. Kottayam Chellapan married Nalini and had three daughters and four sons (Sri Jyothi, Charlie, Late Thampan, Moli, Kishore, Maya, and Sreekala). Kottayam Chellapan died on 26 December 1971 due to a heart attack. He was only 48 years old.
