Even though local dialects were used in some movies, it was limited to either the main hero or any specific character like a comedian or the villain. Recently, there has been an emergence in the rise of films in which almost all characters speak in the local dialects or slang. It is a satirical comedy film released in 2013 with Jayasurya in the leading role. Directed and coproduced by Ranjit Shankar, the film is about a young entrepreneur Joy Thakkolkaran and his business venture, "Punyalan Agarbattis", in the city of Thrissur. The film was a commercial success at the box office.

Starring Kunchacko Boban, the film was written by Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval. The story is about a reformed thief Kozhummal Rajeevan and his fight for justice. The film was a commercial success at the box office and won the Kerala film critics association award for best popular film and best actor.

3. Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25- Payyannur Slang

Released in 2019, it is a science-fiction comedy-drama film written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval. The main characters are played by Suraj Venjaramood and Soubin. The film is about a son who works abroad and his ailing father who is stubborn. To take care of the father, the son sends an AI humanoid robot. After initial hesitance, the bond becomes more robust and emotional. It won the Kerala State film award for best actor, debut director, and art director.

4. Sudani From Nigeria -Malappuram Slang

Released in 2018its a sports drama film directed by Zachariah Mohammed. Soubin plays the lead role of Majeed. The story revolves around Majeed and his friend from the football team. The friend 'Samuel' is from Nigeria and faces an issue when his passport is stolen. Majeed helps his friend to go back to his native country. It won many awards, including the Filmfare Award South for best film and the FIPRESCI Award for best film.

5. Georgettans Pooram- Thrissur Slang

It is a comedy action film directed by K Biju with actor Dileep in the leading role released in 2017. The female lead is Rejisha Vijayan. The story revolves around George and his friends trying to save the local ground (mathaiparambu) and the following incidents

Released in 2019, Kumbalangi Nights is a Malayalam drama film directed by Madhu C Narayanan. The film is regarded as a new-generation film due to its plot. The film says about the estranged relationship between 4 brothers and how they ultimately come together. The lead was played by Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Srinath Bhasi, and Anand Mathews, with Fahad Fasil playing an important role. The female lead is Anna Ben. The film was a box office hit and received many awards.

7. Pranjiettan And The Saint- Thrissur Slang

It is a satirical comedy film released in 2010. With Mammoty in the leading role, the film also has Innocent, Priya Mani, and many more. The main character, Pranjiettan, talks to the imaginary St Francis of Assisi. The story goes on about how Pranjiettan wants to change his image in public by using money and how his life changes after the entry of a boy into his life.

It is a drama thriller written and produced by Ranjith and released in 2012. Mammoty acts as Bavooty in this film. It also has Kavya Madhavan and Reema Kallingal in it. The story is related to Bavooty, who is a driver but has a more emotional connection with the family and how he is involved in the problems and helps to solve them without disturbing the family's peace.

9. Eeda -Kannur Slang

It is an Indian romance film released in 2018, written, edited, and directed by Ajitkumar. With Shane Nigam and Nimisha Sajayan in the leading role, the film was shot the North Malabar region of Kerala. The story deals with the love story of two who fall in love, but their life is suddenly changed by the violent events happening in their lives. It was selected for the John Abraham Award.

10. Kunjananthante Kada- Kannur Slang

It is a Malayalam drama film released in 2013 directed by Salim Ahamed. The story is about Kunjananthan, who owns a small shop in a village. His family life is also in trouble. There comes a situation when he has to give up his shop, and the story revolves around this.
