Chithra is a Malayalam movie actress who has been working in the Indian film industry since childhood. Born on 25th February 1965 in Kochi, Kerala, India, she was nicknamed Nallennai Chithra because of the recognition she received after she worked in an oil advertisement. She has worked in over 100 movies and is best known for her contribution to Malayalam cinema.

She started her career as a child artist with the film Aval Appadithan in 1978. The lead actors she worked are legendary Rajnikanth and Kamal Hasan. In the year 1987, she worked in three films simultaneously all by three different directors. The movies included Chinna Poove Mella Pesu, Manathil Uruthi Vendum and Oorkavalan.

The year 1989 and 1990 proved to be fantastic years of her career as a total of six films were released in these two years which are Ninaivu Chinnam, Thiruppu Munai, Ethir Kaatru, Vellaiya Thevan, Manidhan Marivittan and 60 Naval 60 Nimidam. She played the role of the nurse who is in one of the main roles in the film Putham Pudhu Payanam directed by K S Ravi Kumar against Anand Babu.

She also acted in the other pictures of KS Ravi Kumar which include Cheran Pandiyan, Pondatti Rajyam, and Periya Kudumbam etc. Various other Tamil films of her are Rajali, Gopala Gopala, Chinnavar and Pondatti Rajyam. Besides working in Tamil films she also acted in various Malayalam and Telugu films. She started her career in the Malayalam movies with Attakalasham in the year 1983. Directed by Sasikumar, the picture stars Prem Nazir and Mohanlal. She got her big break in the year 1985 as eight Malayalam pictures were released continuously in that year itself.

Again in 1991 seven pictures hit the cinemas that were Parallel college, Amaram, Kankettu, Nagarathil Samsara Vishayam and few others. Chithra earned a lot of recognition with the Malayalam movies she had been a part of. Numerous others are Ponuu Chami, Devasuram, Padheyam, Dollar, Kadal, Commissioner, Special Squad, Saadaram, Adivaram, Kallu Kondoru Pennu, Aaram Thamburan, Prayikkara Pappan, Ustaad, Mr. Butler, Censor etc. Apart from this, she worked in Amavasya Chandrudu, a Telugu movie which released in the year 1981.

She has also worked in two Hindi films titled Razia in 1982 and Ek Nai Paheli in 1984. Chithra also did four television shows which are Manasi aired on door darshan Malayalam, Kaialavu Manasu on Rajshri Tamil, Udhyogasthan and Kanavaru Kaaga Telecasted on Sun TV.
