Abbas Burmawalla: Abbas Burmawalla is an Indian film director, writer, and producer. He was born in Surat, Gujarat. He is the brother of Abbas Burmawalla and Hussain Burmawalla. Hussain Burmawalla is a very famous film editor of Gujarati and Hindi films. They all belong to a family in the furniture business, but Abbas-Mustan wanted to do something different, so they both started their careers with Gujarati films. In 1978, Mustan Joined Sultan Ahmed as an assistant director, who was directing a Hindi movie titled “Ganga Ki Saugandh” and at the same time, he joined as an assistant director with Govindbhai Patel. Mustan did his debut Gujarati film as a director named “Sajan Tara Sambharana” in 1985, and this becomes a hit film. Govindbhai Patel refused this film.

In 1990, Mustan stepped into Hindi cinema and did his first Hindi movie “Agneekaal” starring Jeetendra, Raj Babbar, and Madhavi. They also started their own production house called ‘Burmawalla Partners.' After that, he never stopped and did great work in Hindi cinema. The list of his Hindi films started from Agneekaal (1990), Khiladi (1992), Baazigar (1993), Soldier(1998), Baadshah(1999), Ajnabee(2001), Taarzan: The Wonder Car(2004), 36 China Town (2006), Race(2008), Players(2012), Race 2 (2013). His upcoming Hindi movie is “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu”, the star cast of this movie starts with the great comedian of the decade Kapil Sharma, Elli Avram, Simran Kaur Mundi and Arbaaz Khan.

Abbas Burmawalla is one of the director duos Abbas-Mustan, who are popular for their films that are inspired by Hollywood and other Indian movies. Abbas and Mustan Burmawala started their career in Gujarati Film Industry. They have a brother named Hussain Burmawalla, who had been working as the editor in both Gujarati and Hindi movies. Govind bhai would have felt worried about turning down it.

After a few Gujarati films, Abbas wanted to direct Bollywood films. His first Bollywood film was “Agneekaal.” The film featured “Jeetendra,” “Madhavi” and Raj Babbar. The film was a hit in 1990.
