Ram Subramanian is known throughout India for directing Hindi movies. He ended his studies at Christ University in Bangalore during 2000 but quickly secured an opportunity in ads industry. He invested his career writing compelling copy and running creative departments at powerful Indian advertising agencies. During that period he composed content for multiple brands produced award-winning work and received Cannes Lions, One Show, and D&AD top honors. After Ram ended his advertising career he began developing films as his main focus. He started the Handloom Picture Company and directed various TV ads before his life took a big turn. Seeking more profound meaning, he closed his office, tossed his awards, and devoted himself to social, political, and peace activism. His imaginative ideas and videos spread, gaining wide notice. Through his media work, Ram contributed significantly to the AAP political movement in Delhi. He built successful viral promotional content that earned his team their first-ever political victory.
Through AAP's Innovation Department he developed political communications methods unlike anything seen in politics. When Ram's activism expanded, people began to describe him as the "Voice of Ram." He launched the #ProfileForPeace campaign, which asked people to hold their hands in signs for peace. Two million people joined to perform this movement which received international media attention. During his travels, Ram delivered a TEDx Talk and visited numerous college campuses to inspire students and audiences through his thought leadership. Activism became too challenging and unrewarding, so he decided to return to filmmaking. The Handloom Picture Company gained fresh direction under Ram's leadership when he moved the company toward the artistic production of meaningful films.
