Raj Babbar is an actor turned politician. He is renowned for his work in Bollywood and Punjabi movies. He was born on June 23, 1952, in Tundla, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his graduation from Agra College and then in 1975 did a course in method acting from National School of Drama.
Babbar made his Bollywood debut in 1977 with the movie ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’. He gained famed for his role of Antagonist in the movie ‘
Insaaf Ka Tarazu’, after which he became a regular under the B.R. Chopra banner starring in films like ‘Nikaah’ and ‘Aaj Ki Aawaz’.

Juhi Babbar from his wife
Nadira Babbar and
Prateik Babbar from his second wife
Smita Patil, who died due to complications during childbirth.
He has achieved success in Punjabi movies also and besides that has acted in TV shows like Mahabharat 1988 TV Series, ‘
Bahadur Shah Zafar’ (1986), ‘
Maharaja Ranjit Singh’ (2010) and ‘
Pukaar’ - Call For The Hero (2014).
Babbar is now a member of Indian National Congress, and he competed for the Ghaziabad constituency in 2014. He started his career by joining the Samajwadi Party and was a member till 2006, but in 2008, he was suspended and acceded to the Indian National Congress in 2008. In 2013, he passed controversial remarks against
Narendra Modi by comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
Raj Babbar’s latest movie was ‘
Tevar’ which was released in 2015 where he played the role of a police officer.
