'Ranjeet' was born in Jandiala Guru near Amritsar, Punjab, and is popularly known for his villainous roles in Hindi films. He has appeared as a baddie in more than 200 Hindi films, and shared the screen with many Bollywood superstars like , Dharmendra,

during the making of the Hindi film, Reshma aur Shera. He played Ranjeet, in more than 25 films.
He has also directed two films, ‘Kaarnama’, and Gazab Tamasha, while he was also the producer in the later one. He made his TV debut with the Sony TV show, Aisa Des Hai Mera, and played a positive character of a Sardar. The show had the story of a British girl, Rusty, living in United Kingdom, with her divorced mother, Linda. She came to know that she had connections with India and decides to return. There she came to know that she was half Indian, as her father, Randheer Singh Deol, married Linda earlier. The story showcased the acceptance of her into the Deol family.
In an interview with The Hindu, he shared that he was recommended for the role of baddies in the movie, ‘Sharmeelee’, by Sunil Dutt. As those were the days to build a base in the industry, he was called for villain roles in movies. He never refused the work and did the work happily.
He is also active in the Punjabi film industry, and has acted in movies such as Rabb Ne Banaiyan Jodiean and Man Jeete Jag Jeet.
