Jennifer Hudson

Hudson was born in Chicago on September 12, 1981. She was born to Darnell Donnerson and Samuel Simpson. She graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1999. She got brought up by a Baptist in Eaglewood. She is an American actress, singer, and spokesperson. She started singing in church choir at the age of 7. With the help of Julia, her maternal grandmother she started performing in Community theatre. She enrolled at Kennedy King College.

“Love You I do” won the Grammy Award for the Best Song from Motion Picture. She won 29 awards for her role as Effie White. She became the third African-American to be on the cover of magazine Vogue. She also received the BAFTA award for the best Supporting actress. She then starred in the film Sex and The City. Hudson also appeared in The Secret Life of Bees which was a box office hit. In 2008 she started working for her debut album. Her first single ‘Spotlight’ topped 24 in Billboard Hot 100. In UK and Turkey, it reached top 20. The debut album got released in September 2008. The album topped number 2 on Billboard 200. It surpassed 500,000 copies and received Golden Certification.

She released her next album JHUD in 2014. At the age of 18, she dated James Payton. They broke up in 2007. She got engaged to professional Wrestler David Otlunga in 2008. The couple gave birth to a boy child in August 2009. Tragedy hit Hudson in October 2008. Her Nephew a 7-year-the old boy went missing. All the three got shot dead. Hudson’s brother in law William Balfour got charged for these murders. In July 2012 he was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment.
