Andrew Friedman

Andrew Friedman holds the position of the President of Baseball Operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball. Andrew Friedman was born on 13th November 1976 in Houston, Texas. He did his schooling at Episcopal High School. He got admission on a scholarship of baseball at Tulane University; he did BS in management and also specialized in finance from Freeman School of Business. Andrew worked as an analyst at Bear Stearns from the year 1999 to 2002. In 2002, he joined a private equity firm, MidMark Capital as an associate. Friedman met Stuart Sternberg in 2003 and started working at Tampa Bay Rays. He was the Director of Baseball Development; further, he earned the post of Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and later he was appointed as the General Manager in 2005.

He replaced Chuck LaMar, who lost the 8th consecutive season in his tenure as General Manager. In Friedman’s tenure, the Rays qualified for the first time in the World Series. Under Friedman’s tenure, Rays made their way to playoffs in the years 2010, 2011 and 2013. ‘Sporting News’ named him as Baseball Executive of the year. In 2014, Friedman left Rays and joined Los Angeles Dodgers as the President of Baseball Operations. He was the highest paid executive in the front office of baseball with the contract of $35 million for five years. He took Farhan Zaidi, and then Oakland Athletics executive, for the post of General Manager of Dodgers and also Josh Byrnes, former GM of Padres, as Vice President of Baseball Operations. Friedman, Byrnes and Zaidi along with Ned Colletti and Stan Kasten became the strong team of the front office of Dodgers.
