Agnes

Agnes aka Agnes Emilia Carlsson is a young, beautiful and talented singer. She won the show and the title of ‘Idol’ 2005 (Sweden) when she was only 17 and earned the fame. After winning the title, she signed to Sony Music and her debut album, titled as her own name, “Agnes” was released. Flowing “Agnes” she came out with another album named “Stronger” in October 2006. Both the albums rose to more fame and topped the “Swedish Top 60 Albums Chart”.

Later in 2008, she signed with Roxy Recordings, which was a small independent label. “Creative differences” is what she claims to be the reason for her leaving Sony BMG. In 2009, she became the first Swedish Idol contestant to be launched in America. After signing with Roxy Recordings, the drastic difference in her music style was seen with the release of “On and On”.

Born in Vänersborg (Sweden) Agnes is the youngest of her four siblings. She joined a choir and started taking violin lessons at a very young age. At the age of 16, she became serious about her singing and started to take lessons in singing. She has also been a part of ‘Voice’ (Vänersborg Choir). Despite of not having much of the audiences’ support; she crossed all the hurdles like a braveheart. All the four judges of the show were awestruck by her singing and consistency in the show. Judges even brought her back as ‘wildcard’ entry; she still couldn’t make it to top 11, because of the public votes. But keeping faith in Agnes, she was sent directly to finals by choosing her as the “judges’ choice contestant”. She continued to amaze judges and audience week after week of the finals. And then finally, earning 57% of the total votes casted (1 million), she became the first woman to win the title of the ‘Idol’ defeating Sebastian Karlsson.

After “Agnes” and “Stronger”, she released her third album “Dance Love Pop”. The album managed to reach number five in charts of Sweden and 13 in the UK. Over 200,000 albums were sold worldwide make it her most successful album till yet. “On and On” and “Release Me” where her greatest hit singles and became international hits. Especially “Release Me” which got the Silver Certification for over 300,000 copies being sold in the UK and went all the way to the top of the Billboard (Hot Dance Club Songs), selling over 900,000 copies.
