Gavin Polone is an American director and producer known for his work in television shows such as Larry David’s comedy series, Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Warner Brothers-produced, Gilmore Girls, and movies such as Premium Rush, Little Manhattan, Secret Window, and Zombieland, among many others.
Gavin Polone pursued his education at the University of California at Berkeley. Later on, Polone worked as a real estate consultant and also applied to the United State Central Intelligence Agency. The year of 1985 saw Polone as an assistant at the talent agency, ICM Partners. Later on, Polone left ICM to join United Talent Agencies. This was followed by him founding his own production company to manage film and television artists. The year of 1998 saw Polone start his career as an executive producer with the John Irvin-directed war TV movie, When Trumpets Fade. In 1999, Polone financed the Joel Schumacher-directed, 8mm, the Kirstie Alley and Kirsten Dunst starrer, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and the David Koepp-directed horror, Stir of Echoes. 2002 saw Polone co-produce the David Fincher thriller, Panic Room, featuring Jodie Foster and Forest Whitaker in the lead roles. Polone also worked alongside David Koepp in producing the Johnny Depp starrer, Secret Window. In 2005, Polone and Arnon Milchan financed the Josh Hutcherson starrer romantic comedy, Little Manhattan, followed by the Uma Thurman and Luke Wilson starrer, My Super Ex-Girlfriend. 2008 saw Polone produce the Ricky Gervais starrer supernatural film, Ghost Town. In the next year, Polone financed the zombie comedy, Zombieland, featuring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone. Later on, Polone also served as a producer for movies such as the Joseph Gordon-Levitt starrer, Premium Rush, HBO’s drama film, Cinema Verite, and Conan O’Brien starrer documentary, Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop.
Polone started financing television shows in the millennium year starting with Larry David’s improvisational comedy show, Curb Your Enthusiasm. The series fetched Polone 6 nominations for a “Primetime Emmy Award for an Outstanding Comedy Series.” Polone also served as an executive producer for seven years on the Amy Sherman-Palladino’s creation, Gilmore Girls. The millennium decade also saw Polone finance various television shows, such as the David Koepp-directed, ‘Hack’, April Blair’s comedy, Jane by Design, the Fox Television-produced, ‘Thief’, and Betsy Thomas’s sitcom, My Boys.
Polone is the owner of the restaurant, Waffle, in Hollywood, and is a columnist with the New York Times. Polone also houses a number of service dogs.
